Name that movie!
So, it snowed. It’s not our first snow of the winter, but it’s our first real snow of the winter. Here at Pemberley we got about 6 inches. And so I was excited this morning… sure that the schools would cancel or at the very least be delayed. I wondered how many snowmen we could build in a yard this size. I wondered what Kitty would think about the snow.
Well, I’ll tell you something. Our school district sucketh. School wasn’t cancelled, nor was it delayed. All the other districts in town were delayed, but not ours. Let me tell you something else… The morning drop off is sure exciting when you have a swarm of cars trying to drive around in an unplowed parking lot. Spinning wheels and skidding cars are both an excellent way to keep our children safe! Way to go, School District!
So, anyway… I decided to be a pal and try and shovel our long, long driveway. I hate winter, hate snow, and therefore have no snow gear of my own, so I borrowed The Boy’s hat, Jane’s scarf, and Mr. Darcy’s size 13 snow boots and tromped Kitty and I outside. Wasn’t that a marvelous run-on sentence? I don’t care, I’m keeping it.
Once she figured out she should stop touching the stuff, things were good for awhile. I shoveled a little patch of driveway, but then she started shrieking and I found her face-planted into a pile of snow and unable to move. It was very reminiscent of that scene in Christmas Story where Randy got knocked down and couldn’t get back up on his own (“Randy lay there like a slug! It was his only defense!”).
After I rescued her, she was so hysterical that I decided that was enough fun for one day and we went inside.
It’s still snowing. Only 3 more days of school until Winter Break. CAN’T WAIT!
