Having decided to steal traditions from better mothers, I threw a Back To School Feast for my kids this year. My kids loved it. The food was good, but I am still grouchy that today was the last day of summer.
My sister joined us since I forced her to watch my kids all day long while I went to doctor’s appointments and PTA meetings. That’s her peeking out behind Lizzy’s head. I’m not sure that she actually wanted to be in the shot. Ha. Hi, Linda!
I am not ready for school. So not ready. I don’t want to deal with homework and a million papers and missing the bus. I hate those things.
On the other hand, I am kind of ready for a quiet house, only Kitty home with me to run errands, go shopping, or take naps in the afternoon. Oh, afternoon naps… have you ever been wrong?
I have to be honest, though. I’m on the verge of crying my eyes out. I’m not ready for summer to be over. I’m not ready for them to be gone again. We didn’t get a single vacation or campout this summer. Nothing. And I hate camping. Maybe if I had been forced to camp I would be ready for summer to be over. I need another month to get really good and sick of these kids. Right at this moment, I still like them.
Although, upstairs I can hear Jane and The Boy fighting because The Boy is pestering Jane and stealing her floss from her as older brother’s are inclined to do, and she is freaking out and screeching, “GIVE ME MY FLOSS!!!!!!!!” and I’m thinking… Maybe I’m ready after all.
