Last month when I was sick I started stressing out because I knew it was Jane’s year for a birthday party. (We give them a party on their even years.) And I have this problem with wanting to go BIG at every party. I only got one birthday party when I was a kid, so I’ll blame this tendency on my parents. Heh. –It’s probably not their fault, but it is fun to blame them for stuff, anyway.
So, I was stressing. Because I didn’t know if I would be better, I didn’t know how much of a party I could handle, and I didn’t want Jane to feel like she got the shaft. So, I started looking around for a place that would do the party for me.
And I remembered a million years ago that my niece had a party at a kids hair salon in town that was really fun. Jane liked the idea, and all I had to do was bake some cupcakes. Easiest party ever!
They did the girls’ hair.
Lizzy got to come along because some of the Jane’s friends couldn’t make it, and we had already paid for their spot. In fact, over half of the girls couldn’t come (darn those summer birthdays!) so I did some last minute scrambling to fill in the extra slots with family members and friends from church.
But, it all worked out. And boy did our Primary look fabulous on Sunday!
So, I definitely endorse the “Pay Someone Else to Throw Your Party For You” idea. I think we’ll go with that from now on. I hope The Boy’s friends like Princess Parties!
