Okay, so my living room is decorated. –I might tinker with things a little, but for the most part this room is done.
Does it bother anyone else that the stockings are not symmetrical? Last year there was a brawl over the sequined stockings. Who knew they would be such a hit? And so I had to go back to Target after Christmas and buy a third because my oldest three kids were about to draw blood over who would get the two sparkly socks. So, I have an extra dark green stocking now, and can’t wait until next year when I can hang it up and (sort of) restore balance to my mantle.
We give the kids a tree to decorate on their own (with all the ornaments that don’t work with my lime and turquoise color scheme). In the past, we have bought them a real tree, but this year I saw a 6 foot tree on sale at Target for $25. So, I thought, “Golly, I can’t get a real tree for that much.” I didn’t realize how, uh… Charlie Brown-esque the tree would turn out. Not a lot of branches on this thing. It’s pretty pathetic, but oh well. You get what you pay for.
So, there are our decorations thus far. Stay tuned for the foyer and the fabulous white tree of joy. I always say, “If it ain’t white, it ain’t right.” Shout out to Phil Dunphy.
