Our stuffed stockings. Our stockings are stuffed with really unexciting things each year like socks, underwear, and some fruit. Still, the kids always act excited about it. Yay! A new toothbrush! And a pomegranate! Although, pomegranates are quite wonderful. If only they didn’t take fifteen minutes to peel.
Do you remember that cheese commercial where the little red headed girl shows her parents their living room on Christmas morning and it was packed full of presents, doll houses, toy trains, and new car? And her dad says, “Whoa! Those must have been some cookies you left Santa!”. And she replies, “I didn’t leave him cookies. I left him cheese.”.
I love that commercial. I showed it to my kids this year, mostly because I was craving cheese and wanted something different to snack on while stuffing stockings besides the normal cookies and milk thing. So, we bought a bunch of delicious, fancy cheeses and left them out for Santa instead. Christmas morning, Jane busted into our room and yelled, “THE CHEESE WORKED!!! SANTA LEFT US A TETHER BALL COURT!!! AND A DOME PLAYGROUND THINGY!!!”. It was pretty cute.
Now she wants to leave cheese out every year.
Lydia’s new book.
Kitty had asked every Santa she saw this year for some zhu zhu pets. So, after she had opened a few gifts and still not received one, she hollered out, “WHERE ARE MY ZHU ZHU PETS?!?!!”. It’s a good thing we found some under the tree because I hate to think what kind of punishment we would have received.
The kids declared it the BEST CHRISTMAS EVER. It was quite delightful, but maybe that is just the cheese talking. Ahhh, the power of cheese.
