Now that the house is being freshened up with a new coat of paint, we are tackling the rest of our yard. Yesterday we had a giant pile of mulch delivered. So, after their homework was done I made the kids go out and shovel bark. “Made” doesn’t sound very friendly. I forced them to with angry words and threatening hand gestures.
Although, I did most of the work when they were at school, to tell you the truth. And got another sunburn on top of my five old sunburns because of it. I’m supposed to avoid sunlight because of one of my antibiotics, but… I keep thinking if I put on SPF 1000 and wear a giant sun hat that I can go in the sun, however after about a half hour my skin is screaming, “HAVE MERCY, WOMAN!!! IT BURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRNS! IT BURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRNS!!”
How does one avoid the sun? Sure, I can get my hermit on during the winter, but during spring? I need to exercise and help in the yard and push Kitty on the swing and take girls to soccer games. It is turning out much more difficult than I thought it would be.
ANYWAY, when the kids came home I tried to force them to finish the job for me since my skin still hates me a lot. But instead of spreading the bark, they mostly stood on top of the pile and had sword fights with their rakes. Alas.
Do you want to see a wee little piece of my new blue-er house?
Just the shutters and trim are left before it is completed. Oodle-lolly!!
