The kitchen is close to being finished, it’s so close it is functional. You know how that goes? It’s almost done so you get distracted by other things and it never gets exactly 100% done? I hope that doesn’t happen…
Mr. Darcy put up some shelves over the weekend, and I love them so much, I’m going to run away with them. If you look closely in the picture below, you’ll see I need to finish grouting and painting.
I am also probably going to put something on the walls of the open shelves… I haven’t decided if that will be beadboard wallpaper, which I have leftover from Lydia’s room. Or maybe some bright, happy patterned wallpaper? Still trying to decide. Most likely, I will go with the beadboard idea since it would cost me nothing.
And I am really diggin’ my almost entirely white kitchen. And I can’t believe how much more storage I have just from raising the cabinets to the ceiling and adding a shelf underneath. It is miraculous.
We put this IKEA cabinet/book case where our bar used to be. This change alone has made the biggest impact. The bar sat in between two doorways and ruined the flow of the kitchen. If I was cooking, there just wasn’t enough room for people to walk through the kitchen to get to the family room.
So, this narrow cabinet only bumps out about 13 inches from the wall, adds storage for more pretty things, plus drawers for linens. Seriously loving this guy. I’m planning on switching out the knobs on this so they tie in with the rest of the kitchen a bit more. I have bin pulls for the drawers, but don’t you think glass knobs on the doors would be nice?
My boy gave me his Han Solo lego for my birthday. Naturally, I felt like he should be kept with all my other treasures. That’s normal, right?
